Anti-Gay Group’s Signature Gatherer Caught Misleading Citizen On Tape
The anti-gay forces in Washington are trying to overturn the state’s Domestic Partnership legislation that just recently passed. They are trying to collect signatures to have Referendum 71 put on the ballot. The referendum seeks to repeal the 2009 domestic partnership bill. The signatures are due tomorrow, Saturday and the anti-gay groups have resorted to hiring paid signature gathers to collect the needed names. If they fail to collect the required signatures by tomorrow, the bill will go into effect Sunday. Well a pro-gay blogger at Driving Equality filmed one of these paid employees collecting signatures. When asked, the man collecting signatures said he actually personally supported same sex marriage. Something else interesting also came up in the interview. What the man was saying to the people he was asking to sign the petition.
“Did you get a chance to sign our petition? We’re giving you an opportunity to decided whether or not you are in favour of giving homosexual couples legal marriage licenses. Not just the same rights as married people, but a marriage license too. Do you have an opinion on that? Yes? No? Or don’t Care?”
A woman he asked signed the petition, but believed she was signing for marriage equality. But not only is the man being deceitful about that, he is also telling people the referendum would stop people from getting a marriage licence. But the bill has nothing to do with marriage, it’s a domestic partnership bill. Watch a small clip of the event bellow. More footage is supposed to be coming later and I will post it when it becomes available.
